• Percent of persons in fair or poor health: 9.6 %
• Percent of persons with a limitation in usual activities due to one or more chronic health conditions: 7.3 %
• Percent of men 18 years and over who currently smoke: 20 % (2004-2006)
• Percent of women 18 years and over who currently smoke: 11 % (2004-2006)
• Percent of persons under 65 years without health insurance coverage: 35 %
• Percent of children under 18 years without a usual source of health care: 11 %
• Percent of adults 18 years and over without a usual source of health care: 33 %
• Number of deaths: 131,161
• Deaths per 100,000 population: 307.3 %

• Heart disease: 27,788
• Cancer: 24,522
• Accidents (unintentional injuries): 10,408
• Infant deaths per 1,000 live births: 5.81 %
